Fallen star scarf

Fallen star scarf

In my previous post I write a pattern for the fallen star headband and decide that it will be perfect as scarf to make ensemble. As I told you I start to make video tutorials to help and guide you when you are crocheting our patterns. The scarf is made by two parts. It starts with crochet stars and flowers in it and turns into crochet row of V- stitch. It was funny crocheting it and I hope that you will enjoy it too. In this post I will show you how to join tha finished motifs, so to start our scarf firstly take a look on our previous post to prepare the motifs  and the video tutorial for the motifs in the link just below:

So if you made your motifs and you are ready to join them and finish the scarf here it is :

The video tutorial of the scarf you can watch here :

Special stitches:  V- stich

Make 1 dc, ch1, 1 dc into the same st.

In the previous post I write down how to make the flower and star motif of the scarf which you can find here :

Now I will show how to join them, how to shape the scarf and how to finish it.

So lets start.

Joining of the stars will be made by using join as you go/ crochet along for this. You have to start row 4 till the picot st. ch3 but don’t finish the picot take off the loop from the hook and insert it in the picot st of the finished star after that take back the loop that we have just taken off now you have 2 loops on the hook, pull first loop through the second and finish the picot st by making a sl.st in the first ch of beg. Ch- 3.Finish the point of star. Repeat this for the next point of the star and continue with row 4. The first 2 stars are joined only by 2 point of them.

After first 2 stars are joined we will continue joining the other motifs. Remember that always we have to join 1 star in the middle by her 4 points and 1 star for the both sides by their 3 joining points. As it is shown on the picture.

The numbers in the middle indicates the motifs and the numbers in the corner of the joining point show how much joining points get the motif.

Star indicated with green color must be join by 2 points. ( 2 joining points )

Star in the middle which is indicated with black color must be joined by her 4 points. ( 4 joining points )

Stars indicated with dark and light red colors must be joined by their 3 points. ( 3 joining points )

After you get the desired length of your scarf we will need 1 half star motif which we will join in the middle of the last row. When we are crocheting row 4 again we will crochet till the picot st and will join the motif in the middle like the previous stars.

The half star motif :

Row 1 : Start with magic ring/circle and make 1 dc into the circle, *ch1, 1 dc * – rep 3 times, Turn.

Row 2 : ch3,(  sl.st , 2 dc, sl,st ) all into the next ch-1 space – rep 4 times, Turn.

Row 3 :Insert the hook into the first sl.st of the next petal and ch3, skip the petal, sc in BLO of the first sl.st of next petal– rep 3 times, ch3 join with sl.st in the first ch of beg-ch3.

Row 4 : ch1,*  (1sc, 1hdc, 1dc, 1picot, 1dc, 1hdc, 1sc) in the next ch- 3 space * – rep. 4 times.End.

Crochet rows of the scarf :

Row 1 :

Start from right to left.Insert the hook into the picot st of first point of the star and ch3, skip next 2 sts, 1 sc into the last sc of the next point of the star, ch 3, 1 sc into the next picot st, ch 3 , 1 sc into the next point of the star, ch 3, 1 sc into the center of the flower, ch 3, 1 sc into the first sc of the point of the star, ch 3, 1 sc into the picot st, ch 3, 1 sc into the last sc of the next point of the star, ch 3, 1 sc into the picot st.Turn.

Row 2 :

We will work only in ch -3 spaces.

Ch 3, 4 dc, 5dc, *3 hdc * – rep 4 times, * 5dc *- rep 2 times.Turn.

Row 3 :

Ch3, V- stitch in base of initial ch-3, * skip 2 sts, 1 V- stitch in next st *- rep 10 times, 1 dc in 3rd ch of turning ch- 3. Turn.

Row 4 :

Ch 3, V- stitch in V- stitch of previous row – rep. till the end of the row, 1 dc in 3rd ch of turning ch-3.

Repeat Row 3 and 4 til the desired length. To get this colorful look of the scarf, after every 3rd row change color. Our scarf is made by 2 parts. When you finish this steps repeat them again and make the second part which we will join by tapestry needle as shown on the picture.

Voalaaaa your scarf is ready. You can enjoy it :))))

Giraffe Wolly

Giraffe Wolly

GIRAFFE WOLLY

Happy February to all. Again with a new rag doll which I am really in love. I was wondering how it will be but in the end I am satisfied with the result. I hope all of you enjoy it as much as I do when I was crocheting this little friend.

Materials needed :

  1. Dk weight yarn –
  2. I used  Stylecraft Special DK or :
  3. Paintbox Simply DK
  4. Paintbox Simply DK yarns
  5. Crochet hook size – 3,5mm – US crochet hook size – E
  6. Poly fiber fill for stuffing
  7. Tapestry needle
  8. Scissors

Giraffe Wolly rag doll is made using single crochet stitch. When we incorporate different colors the stitches will be indicated with the letter of the color from the color legend bellow:

Color Legend :

Y –    Yellow     DB – Dark Brown   B – Beige

The doll is made of 18 parts that we will join later with single crochet stitch as our other ragdolls .

Giraffe Wolly doll front body panels .

The doll is made of flat pieces that we will join with single crochet stitch later.

Tips and tricks of the pattern:

  1. Color changing – When you switch colors do it always before you finish your last st of the prev color yarn. Just change color before your last YO of prev st and YO with new color then pull through the hook with the new yarn . Here is example with colors – insert your hook into the last stitch of Colour A. Pull up a loop in Colour A. Then yarn over in Colour B to complete the stitch. Continue with Colour B until you need to switch again.

When you change color make sure that you are dropping the yarn in the back of your panel if you wish you can put a stitch marker of the Right side of the panel or piece of string so you will never wonder which one is the correct side.

  1. Incorporating different colors – You can use fair isle crochet technique when changing colors or you can just pull them from back without cutting yarn. Just be sure that you keep the yarn at the backside of panel. In the pattern when we make the head we will need to work different color stitches of some rows. The whole pattern is made using single crochet stitch so when we incorporate different colors the stitches will be indicated with the letter of the color . For example – “ 6W, 12CR , 6W ” – so it means that you should make first 6 stitches with White color, the next 12 with Cream , and last 6 with White color. When it says “ decW” – it means you should decrease with white color yarn .
  2. Do not forget – Make ch 1 and  turn at the end of each row.

Start with yellow color yarn. Front and back panel are made the same. Legs, Hands, Ears and Antlers are made separately and are joined after the body panels are complite .

Brown dots Make as many as you wish

Small dots

Start with magic circle and secure with sl.st to form a ring. Make 6 sc into the ring, join with sl.st to the first sc. End. Leave a tale for sewing

Big dots

Start with magic circle and secure with sl st to form a ring. Make 8 hdc into the ring, join with sl.st to the first hdc. End. Leave a tale for sewing.

Assembling pieces together. It doesn’t matter where you will start assembling  .

When you join two body panels make sure that the right side of front panel is facing you while you are crocheting with single crochet stitch around .

As you crochet along the outside, you will need to switch colors where appropriate. When switching colors, insert your hook into the last stitch of Color A. Pull up a loop in Color A. Then yarn over in Color B to complete the stitch. Continue with Color B until you need to switch again.

Stuffing – Stuff the toy when you crochet along . When you go around the leg with sc fill it.
