Construction of the Mini Hexagon Stocking
Over the last few months, I’ve found myself drawn to creating simple yet modern crochet designs. These kinds of projects are not only fun to make, but they also give beginner crocheters the opportunity to create beautiful pieces while gradually building their skills.
And what better way to embrace that idea than with a Christmas project? 🎄🧶
This mini Christmas stocking starts with a granny hexagon. In the first round, we’ll create a hexagon with six distinct corners. As we continue, those corners will be used to increase the size of the hexagon evenly.
Once the hexagon is complete, we’ll fold and join the hexagon into a stocking, then add the cuff and hanging loop for the perfect festive touch.
This design is quick, beginner-friendly, and incredibly satisfying — a perfect project for decorating, gifting, or adding handmade charm to your holiday season.
Crochet Mini Stocking Size
Finished size 14 x 14 cm/ 5.5′ x 5.5′ inches
To adjust the size of your crochet mini stocking simply add or remove rounds from your hexagon. Afterwards, fold and join. Lastly, add the cuff following the pattern. You can also check our regular sized Hexagon stocking from last years here.

#3 DK weight yarn /
Premiere Basix DK 100% Acrylic, 100g/3.5oz, 165m/180yds.
5-10g of different colours
Perfect to use all the small odd balls in your stash.
Substituting Yarn
If you don’t have the exact yarn I used, no worries — this pattern is very flexible. It’s designed for DK weight (#3) yarn, so you can substitute any yarn in that weight range and still achieve a great result.
You can also use worsted weight yarn for this stocking. If your stocking feels too large when using worsted, simply skip the final round and work the hexagon in 4 rounds instead to adjust the size

Pattern notes
- First, we will crochet a hexagon and then turn it into an L-shaped mini stocking.
- We will add a cuff to finish the stocking.
- You can make it bigger by adding more rounds.
- The pattern is designed with a classic granny stitch made of clusters. Each cluster is made of a set of 3 dc sts.
- You can use different colors for each round.
- Start with a standing double crochet when attaching the new color or sl st in each st till you reach the next ch-sp.

Rnd 2: Ch 3(count as dc), (2 DC, ch 1, 3 DC) into the same ch-2 space(first corner), ch 1, * (3 DC, ch 1, 3 DC ) in next ch-2 sp, ch 1 * rep 5 times, SS to join (2 clusters per side)

How to turn your hexagon into a Stocking
sl st in next st. Now take the last corner of rnd 5 and align it with the corner where your yarn is to form L shape. Sl st through the corner space of both sides to join, continue joining both sides with sl.st across. FO.
How to add a cuff to your Mini Hexagon Christmas stocking
Version 1- Ribbed Cuff
*Each row of the cuff/brim is worked in back loops only (BLO)
Attach the yarn in the first corner after the joining line.
Row 1: Ch 9, sc in 2nd ch from your hook, sc in each rem ch across, sl st in next 2 sts of last rnd of the stocking to join, turn (8)
Row 2: skip the 2 sl st, sc in each across, ch 1, turn (8)
Row 3: sc in each across, sl st in next 2 sts of last rnd of the stocking to join, turn (8)
Repeat alternating row 2-3 till you reach the end.
When you reach the end fold the brim and join both sides with sl st. FO.
Version 2- DC rounds
Attach the yarn in the first corner after the joining line.
Rnd 1-3: Ch 3(counts as dc), dc in each st and ch-sp around, sl st to join (21)
