Candy corn gnome pattern for Halloween home decorations

Halloween is around the corner and it’s time to start all the Halloween crochet projects. This year I decided to start early and be prepared for the spooky holiday.

Although, we don’t celebrate Halloween (in Bulgaria), no trick or treat for the kiddos (sadly) I usually try to make something for my daughter.

In previous years, I crocheted a mini crochet pocket monster keychain. That was a total hit among her friend group. This year the first crochet Halloween pattern was the adorable crochet witch gnome. I know another gnome right?

However, if you are obsessed with gnomes as much as me you must definitely check out the entire collection of 20 and more crochet gnome patterns!

How to customize your gnome?

It is your own gnome so make it unique. You can change the body’s color and make with orange. Add a beard instead of curls and turn your she-gnome into a he-gnome. You can use the beard instructions of any previous gnome.

For example, use the beard of the Pumpkin gnome. To make your gnome spooky you can add some spiders, some pumpkins or mini candy corns onto the hat of your candy corn gnome.

How to assembly your gnome:

  1. First, sew the nose right below the hat’s brim in the center.
  2. Sew the curls on both sides leaving 2 stitches between the nose and hair.
  3. Sew the hands on both sides right next to the hair.
  4. If you will make the he-gnome with a beard sew the beard first instead of the nose.
  5. Sew the nose on top of the beard.
  6. Use safety pins to secure your pieces when you like their placements sew them onto the gnome’s body.

  1. Hi, thanks for another great pattern but I have a problem with the beginning:
    Is R1 only the MR?
    Is R2 only 7SC?

How do you go from 7SC to 10SC in R3?

    thanks for having a look,
    Nathalie

    1. In R3 we are making *SC in first, inc 1 in next* 3 times in total and then make sc in the last stitch. In the end you will have 10 stitches.

  2. Hello. I don’t see any comments on here.
What other type of yarn can be used? YarnArt Jeans is rather expensive.
    Thank you.

  3. I saw a video once (can’t find it now) where they used a hot glue gun instead of sewing the pieces together. Have you ever tried that method?

    1. Yes, you could use hot glue gun. Keep in mind that the glue must be hot so it will stick well. We use the hot glue gun method for our appliques when we attach them onto blankets.
