Pattern notes
- The PineCone is worked in continuous rounds.
- You can use whatever worsted weight yarn you have in your stash for this pattern with appropriate hook.
- Use stitch markers to mark your first stitch when starting a new round.
- If you find it hard to determine your stitches you can place one stitch marker on the first stitch of each round of hdc round.
- Do not over stuff your pine body. We will add prickles later and it will fluff them up enough.
- Working in the 3rd loop of hdc will give us raised stitches in spiral. Later, we will make the prickles on these stitches.

Prickle Section

Stitch repeat:
Each prickle is worked over 2 stitches as follows:
- In the first stitch, work (1 sc, 1 dc).
- In the next stitch, work (1 dc, 1 sl st).
Where to start:
Begin at the lowest spiral round of stitches on the body.
Insert your hook into the first stitch, pull up a loop, and begin working the prickles in the established stitch repeat.
Working the rounds:
Prickles are worked in continuous rounds — do not join at the end of each round.
When you reach the end of a round and have 1 stitch remaining, work the first half of a prickle (1 sc, 1 dc) into that last stitch.
Then, continue into the next round and complete that same prickle by working the second half (1 dc, 1 sl st) into the first stitch of the new round.
This transition ensures the prickles flow smoothly in a spiral without a visible seam.
