The long-awaited Flamingo Gnome pattern is the newest addition to our Gnome CAL. This pattern is easy and quick to crochet. So scroll down for the free pattern or buy the ad-free PDF.
Flamingo gnome pattern
Difficulty: Intermediate
Finished size: The finished size of the gnome is 17 cm/ 6.5 inches

Yarn Used
Sport/ fine weight yarn- Yarn Art Jeans 55% Cotton, 45% Acryl 50 g, 160 m in colors pink 25gr, black 5gr, peach 20gr, white 10gr
Materials:
Abbreviations:
- sc- single crochet
- sl st- slip stitch
- ch- chain
- hdc- half double crochet
- inc- increase (make 2 SC in the same stitch)
- dc inc- make 2 dc in the next stitch
- dec- decrease ( work 2 SC stitch together)
- sc3tog- single crochet 3 together
- MR- magic ring
- ()– repeat the stitches in the () indicated times
- FO- fasten off
- BLO- back loop only
- V-st- make 1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc all in next st
Pattern notes:
- The pattern is worked in continuous/ spiral rounds. Do not join your rounds with a sl st.
- Use a stitch marker or piece of yarn to mark the first stitch. Move the marker after completing the round.
- For my amigurumis I use the @Yarn Under@ method. (see TIPS section below)
- Use safety pins to secure your pieces before sewing.
- For my amigurumis I am using the magic ring/circle to start. See tips below.
Special stitches
Bobble stitch: Yarn over, insert your hook into the next stitch, pull yarn through (3 loops on the hook), yarn over, and pull yarn through 2 loops only, as if you are doing the first part of double crochet (DC) (2 loops on the hook). Repeat until you have 4 DC on your hook and 1 initial loop (total 5 loops on the hook). Yarn over and pull through all 5 loops.
Single crochet 3 together ( Sc3tog )– insert your hook into the next st, pull yarn through ( 2 loops on the hook ), insert your hook in next st, pull yarn through ( 3 loops on the hook ), insert your hook in next st, pull yarn through ( 4 loops on the hook ), yarn over pull through all 4 loops.

FO pink and attach peach color
Rnd 4: ch 4, (skip 2, V-st in next) x10, sl st to join (10 V-sts)
FO dark blue and attach white
Rnd 5: ch 1, 1 sc, {ch 9, sl st in same, 2 sc} x10, 1 sc, sl st to join. FO. (Pic. 3-6)
Bird’s feet (make 2)
-stork with red color/flamingo and swan with mustard
Rnd 1: Ch 4, 2 SC in 2nd from your hook, 1 hdc, 5 hdc in last, continue crocheting on the opposite side, 1 hdc, 1 sc (10)
Rnd 2: 2 inc, 1 sc, 5 inc, 1 sc, 1 inc (18)
Rnd 3: 18 sc (18)
Rnd 4: 8 sc, (1 bobble, 1 sc) x 3, 4 sc (18)
Rnd 5: 8 sc, 3 dec, 4 sc (15)
Rnd 6: 8 sc, sc3tog, 4 sc (13)
Rnd 7: 7 sc, sc3tog, 3 sc (11)
Stuff the feet!
Rnd 8-31: 11 sc (11) [24 rounds]
In the last round you will add or remove 1 st and crochet 5 sc through both sides. FO. Leave longer tail for sewing.
Due to tension differences, add or remove SC until the leg closure is aligned with the foot.

How to assembly your gnome
Use safety pins to place your pieces. Once you like the placement sew them onto the body.
First, take the beard and sew it 12 rounds from the top.
Secondly, take the beak and sew it onto the beard.
Now take the feathers and sew them on both sides. Leave 4-5 stitches between the beard and the feathers. Make sure the rounded part is towards the beard.
Take the legs and sew them to the bottom.(optional)
Lastly, put the hat on. You can attach it with a tapestry needle and a piece of yarn from a few places (optional).
I came up with the idea for a crochet flamingo gnome when I was designing my Flamingo Amigurumi pattern. I needed to make changes to turn it into a gnome, but I am so happy with the result.
