Construction of the Gnome
The Jumbo Gnome is crocheted from the bottom up using a seamless construction method. The project begins by crocheting two legs separately. Once both legs are complete, they are joined together and the body and head are worked as one continuous piece, creating a smooth and sturdy structure.
After the body and head are finished, the remaining details — the nose, beard, hands, and hat — are crocheted individually. These pieces are then sewn onto the gnome to complete the design. A weight is added to the shoes during construction to help the gnome stand securely on its own.
This method keeps the shaping simple, minimizes sewing, and results in a polished, professional-looking gnome that holds its shape beautifully.

Substituting Yarn
If you don’t have the same yarn I used, no worries — this pattern is incredibly flexible. It’s designed for worsted weight (category 4) yarn, which means you can swap in just about any yarn in that range and still achieve a beautiful result. Or you can use bulky weight yarn for the Jumbo Version as well.
