The Yarn :

For all my applique I always prefer thinner yarn. The crochet Appliques have so much details and this way it is easier to crochet and attach them. Of course you can use different weight yarn but my suggestion is category 3 weight yarn, DK ( double knit ).

In colors – Mustard, dark orange
and dark cream colors

  • Crochet hook size 3,5mm- US hook size E
  • Scissors
  • Darning needle

NOTES:

When you finish all parts of appliques, lay them on flat surface and use pins to secure them on right place. It is very important to pin the appliques before sewing so you will know exactly how it will look when you sew it on your project. When you like the layout off your appliques you can sew it on your crochet project.

If you will use the appliques on granny square blanket, sew the appliques onto the squares then join the granny squares into blanket. It will be easier to do and the applique will be more accurately placed.

  1. Hi,
I thank you for your unique designs and only have one question that I have not found the answer to,
what does exdc in Round 3 of the Mane mean?

Does it mean extra double crochet? My guess in case I do not get an answer but if wrong ugh it could make a mess lol.
    Thank you again!

    1. Hello, it means extended double crochet. There is only a loop difference. Extended double crochet- yarn over, insert your hook in the next stitch, pull a loop, you have 3 loops on your hook, yarn over, pull through the first loop on your hook, you must have 3 loops on your hook, yarn over, pull through the first 2 loops on your hook, you must have 2 loops on your hook, yarn over, pull through the 2 loops on your hook.
I hope it will be helpful.
