In Bulgaria, we don’t celebrate Halloween and over the years it resulted in fewer crochet patterns regarding this particular holiday. Nevertheless, we have a few that you might like and add to your crochet list.

The first thing that comes to my mind when I think about Halloween is a witch. Obviously, it has impacted my imagination when it comes to designing crochet gnomes. Therefore the first Halloween gnome from the crochet gnome along is the crochet witch gnome!

How to customize your crochet witch gnome?
The possibilities are endless, literally!
You can start by choosing whether you will make your crochet witch gnome with legs or without legs. Afterward, you can play with the colors and change the hair color. For example, it will look stunning with neon pink or yellow curls.

Crochet witch gnome pattern free:

Overall pattern notes:
The pattern is written in US crochet terms.
The finished size of the witch gnome is 18cm/ 7 inches.
The crochet witch gnome is worked in one piece which means we will start to crochet from the hat and continue to the body.
The pattern is crocheted in continuous rounds. Do not join your rounds.
For this pattern, we used a sport-weight yarn. I suggest you use similar yarn such as DK-weight yarn. You can also use whatever yarn you have in your stash but keep in mind that your gnome will be bigger or smaller depending on the yarn you use.
Here are a few suggestions of the yarn you can use- Yarn Art Jeans, Caron Simply Soft, Stylecraft Special DK, Paintbox Simply DK, Hobbii Cotton 8/4.
When stuffing the body- stuff it well, so it will stay in shape, but don’t overdo it.
Materials:
Sport/ fine weight yarn- Shachenmayr Catania 100% Cotton, 50 g, 125 m in colors-
Black color(110 black) 20 gr,
Orange color (209 mandarin) 20gr,
Purple color (113 violet) 20gr,
a small amount of Beige for the nose and hands
crochet hook size 2.5mm
Poly fiber fill for stuffing
tapestry needle
Stitch Abbreviation:
SC- single crochet
SS- slip stitch
CH- chain
Rep- repeat
Inc- increase (make 2 SC in same stitch)
Dec- decrease ( work 2 SC stitch together)
MR- magic ring
– repeat the stitches in the ** indicated times
FO- fasten off
BLO- back loop only
FLO- front loop only

-with purple color
Rnd 1-2: Start with a MR, and make 7 SC into it, (7)
Rnd 3: *SC in first, inc 1* 3 times, SC in last (10)
Rnd 4: SC in each stitch around (10)
Rnd 5: *SC in next, inc 1* 5 times (15)
Rnd 6: inc 1, SC in next 14 (16)
Rnd 7: SC in each stitch around (16)
Rnd 8: *SC in next 3, inc 1, * 4 times, (20)
Rnd 9-10: SC in each stitch around (20)
Rnd 11: *SC in next 4, inc 1, * 4 times, (24)
Rnd 12-13: SC in each stitch around (24)

Hands (make 2 pieces):
-with beige color
Rnd 1: Start with a MR, and make 6 SC into it (6)
Rnd 2: *inc 1* 6 times (12)
Rnd 3-6: SC in each stitch around (12)
Fasten off the beige and switch to black color
Rnd 7-15: SC in each stitch around (12)
Halloween witch gnome’s hair (make 2)
*CH 28, HDC in 3rd from your hook, *2 HDC in next* 21 times, SC in next 4 * rep 2 times. You should have 2 strands of curly hair.

Belt clip:
-With black color
Ch 13, 3 SC in 2nd CH from your hook, SC in next 2, *3 SC in first, SC in next 2* 3 times. FO. Leave a longer tail for sewing.
Halloween witch Boots:
-with black color
Rnd 1: Start with a MR, and make 6 SC into it (6)
Rnd 2: *inc 1* 6 times (12)
Rnd 3: *SC in first, inc 1* 6 times (18)
Rnd 4: * SC in next 2, inc 1* 6 times (24)
Rnd 5-10: SC in each stitch around (24)
Rnd 11: *SC in next 2, dec 1* 6 times (18)
Rnd 12: SC in next 3, *dec 1*4 times, SC in next 7 (14)
Rnd 13: SC in next 3, *dec 1* 2 times, SC in next 7 (12)
Stuff the boots. Switch to orange. The next round is worked in BLO.
Rnd 14: SC in each stitch around (12)
Rnd 15: SC in each stitch around (12)
Attach purple. Don’t fasten off the orange.
16-17: SC in each stitch around (12)
Continue alternating colors every two rounds till you reach round 39. Don’t stuff the legs, only boots.

Booth laces:
Take a tapestry needle and a long piece of orange color yarn. Insert it from one side and make the laces.
How to join your gnome parts:
1. Sew the nose onto the center right below the hat’s brim.
2. Sew the hair on both sides of the nose. Leave 2-3 stitches between the nose and hair.
3. Sew the hands right after the hair
4. Sew or use hot glue gun to attach the belt clip onto the gnome’s hat.
5. Sew the legs on the front bottom side.
6. Use safety pins to secure them before sewing. Sew them when you like the placement.
