Spring has arrived and it is time for more colorful crochet! In this post, I will share how to crochet an easy sunflower applique! Keep reading for the free crochet pattern.

You can use this crochet sunflower applique in so many ways. Add them on a crochet blanket, or a hat. You can place them on crochet bags and scarves. You can even use them as mini crochet flower keychains.

Crochet sunflower applique pattern:

Materials:

  • worsted weight yarn or any yarn you have in your stash
  • crochet hook size 3.5mm/ US crochet hook size E
  • tapestry needle

Final measurements:

The flower size is 6cm/ 2.5 inches

Abbreviation:

SC- single crochet

DC- double crochet

HDC- half double crochet

BLO- back loop only

CH- chain

MR- magic ring

Sunflower applique pattern:

Rnd 1: Start with a MR and make 11 DC into it, SS to join in 2nd ch of initial ch-2.

Switch to yellow color

The first layer of petals. We will work on the next round in the BLO.

Rnd 2: *CH 7, HDC in 3rd ch from hook, HDC in next 3, SC in last, SS in BLO of next stitch* 12 times (12 petals)

If you will make your sunflower 1 layered fasten off here or continue making the second layer of petals.

In the next round, we will work in the front loops of round 1.

Rnd 3: SS in first stitch, *CH 6, HDC in 3rd from your hook, HDC in next 2, SC in last, SS in front loop of next*rep around. FO.
