The design+ inspiration
I have a little nephew or niece due in August and while I was working on my Crochet Amigurumi dolls CAL(If you haven’t seen them you can check them here) I designed a few cute hats for the dolls. Therefore, as I was photo shooting the doll’s pictures I took a few of the hats I designed for them. Later when I was editing the pictures I thought – Why not make a few hats in various sizes?
So, I took out my hat’s size chart and started crocheting. It led me to come to the conclusion that before I make more complicated hats I need to start with something simple- I bet everyone gets that phase in their crochet that you need simpler patterns that are mindless and relaxing! If you like to challenge yourself you can check out my “Ash beanie” pattern- a colorful crochet beanie pattern that is a bit intricate but so satisfying once finished. Check it here.
That is how this basic beanie pattern was born. When I started writing the pattern I wanted it to be accurate so I just made 1 of each size. There are 7 sizes for each member of your family! It also gave me the opportunity to show you a few different color combinations so you can also make yourself your personalized hats. I also added a cute crochet flower that is also beginner-friendly and pretty easy to make.
The yarn:
Recently I discovered one of my all-time favorite yarns- Bernat Premium yarn by Yarnspirations. It is worsted weight yarn, with a variety of colors to mix and match, 100% acrylic which makes it durable and machine washable. The weight is perfect for a quick crochet project and I can say that this yarn made me forget about all the thinner yarns I have worked with before. And it will be extremely hard for me to use a DK(double knit) weight yarn any time soon. If you prefer quick and easy patterns and thicker yarn you can check our knit-a-look crochet headband here.

Crochet flower:
You can find the crochet flower pattern with full photo and video tutorial HERE.
I have tried this pattern but on the two largest sizes on rows 7, 8 and 9 there are no * although it says to repeat from *to*. On row 7 it says:-
Rnd 7: ch 3, dc in next 10 sts, 2 dc in next st rep from * to * 3 more time, dc in next 2 sts, join with sl.st in 3rd ch of
initial ch-3. (70) but you do not get to the end of the row from (10 sts, 2 dc in next st) 4 times as that uses up 44 sts which means there are 22 sts left from the 66 sts in row 6.
As row 7 only shows an increase of 4 sts what is correct way to do this row and the two following rows. I am obviously capable of working out something myself but I would be interested to receive your comments as to what you intend.
I am assuming your instructions are the American style and not the UK sryle.
Hello, all of the patterns are written in US crochet terminology. I forgot to put the *. i corrected the instructions. The initial CH 3, is not counted as a stitch. You need to repeat the instruction after CH 3.
