Crochet Beer Mug Gnome
With St. Patrick’s Day just around the corner, we knew we had to bring something fun and festive to our Crochet Gnome CAL 2025! Since we already have a St. Patrick’s Day Leprechaun He-Gnome and a St. Patrick’s Day She-Gnome on the blog, we wanted to create something different—but still fitting for the occasion.
That’s why for our March Gnome, we decided to go with a Beer Mug Gnome! 🍻 This design is perfect not only for St. Patrick’s Day celebrations but also for beer lovers, Oktoberfest enthusiasts, and anyone who enjoys unique crochet decor. Whether you’re crafting for a home bar, gifting a friend who loves beer, or just adding another fun gnome to your collection, this little guy is a great fit!
One of the things I love most about this pattern is its versatility. While some may celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in a big way, others might not—but most of us know at least one beer-loving friend who would absolutely adore this as a gift! Plus, if you’re a fan of Oktoberfest, this gnome doubles as the perfect autumn decoration as well.

Construction
For the Beer Mug Gnome pattern, we’ll begin by crocheting the hat first, laying the foundation for the signature beer mug design. From there, we’ll seamlessly continue working on the body, shaping our gnome from top to bottom.
Once the body is complete, we’ll return to the hat, where we’ll add the iconic beer mug details—including the frothy foam on top for a realistic and playful touch. Next, we’ll crochet and attach the handle, bringing the beer mug to life.
Finally, we’ll complete the gnome by adding the hands, beard, and nose, giving it that classic gnome charm with a fun, festive twist!

Pattern notes
- The pattern is worked in continuous/ spiral rounds. Do not join your rounds with a sl st.
- Use a stitch marker or piece of yarn to mark the first stitch. Move the marker after completing the round.
- Use safety pins to secure your pieces before sewing.
- My base color is purple and green that’s why in the pattern it is indicated as a base color yarn.

Insert your hook in any st of rnd 29,

How to make the ” BEER ” text on top of the mug:
It is better to make the text before sewing all the parts of the gnome.
For the text I used the chain stitch embroidery method. Here is a mini video tutorial. CHECK IT HERE.
How to assembly your gnome
First, take the beard and sew it under the brim.
Second, take the nose and sew it onto the center of the top part of the beard.
Sew the hands on both sides, leaving 3-4 stitches between the hands and beard.
Sew the handle on one side of the mug!
As I made two gnomes you can sew the handle on the left side of the first gnome and on the right side of the second one.
