Recommended yarn and hook
For this crochet sunburst granny square, I am using one of my favorite yarns- Paintbox Yarns Simply Aran. It is an Aran weight yarn that can be considered as a worsted weight 4 yarn and has a huge variety of colors. It is 100% washable acrylic yarn.
But as I mentioned above the crochet granny square is perfect for using the small leftover balls of yarn that each of us has in our stash. (I might have a few boxes, though!)
PRO TIP: If you will use left over balls make sure that the balls are same weight.
As you can see for the sunflower sunburst granny square I am using 4 different colors- brown, light yellow, mustard, and beige.
Usually, when I crochet granny squares with worsted-weight yarn I like to use a different hook from the one recommended on the label. Therefore, I prefer going down or up a size on the hook. However, it depends on what texture I would like to achieve in the end more sturdy or loose.
The hook I use for the crochet sunburst granny square pattern is a 4mm/ US crochet hook size G.
