Making crochet amigurumi can be hard sometimes. Moreover, with all of the parts to attach it can easily turn into a nightmare. Thankfully, over the last couple of years we as designers became creative and started designing low-sew and no-sew amigurumis.

Hence, these patterns require less sewing and the result is stunning, nevertheless.

This low-sew crochet unicorn amigurumi is part of our Crochet Amigurumi Along! This year we are hosting a CAL in which we share a new free crochet amigurumi pattern each month.

For January we designed the No-sew Crochet Turtle Pattern. For February we will crochet this adorable unicorn.

How to crochet a low-sew unicorn amigurumi?

The construction of this unicorn is made to be as seamless as possible. To achieve that we will start from the legs and continue towards the body.

Later, we will attach the hands as we crochet along! Once the hands are on we will continue with the head. When the unicorn is done we will add the final crochet pieces and accessories.

Furthermore, for the mane’s curls, I gave you two options. If you think the no-sew curls are hard for you, you can make them separately and stitch them on.

Also, for the mane and tail curls I used different lengths. So more options for you. Yay!

For the unicorn, we will crochet in continuous rounds. Don’t join your rounds. Use a stitch marker to mark your first stitch. It will prevent the miscount or losing a stitch.

If you use different weights of yarn your unicorn will turn out bigger or smaller.

When stuffing the toy stuff it well but don’t overdo it. Make sure that the neck part is stuffed (this is the end of your body and the start of your head). This will prevent the head from falling.

Supplies you’ll need to crochet a low-sew unicorn:

– Super bulky weight yarn- Chenille/velvet yarn- Parfait Chunky 100% polyester, 100 g, 120 m
– 1 ball of white color

-a small amount of different colors for the horn and mane
– crochet hook size 4 mm

– Poly fiber fill for stuffing
– tapestry needle

-safety eyes- 14/16mm (a pair)

Yarn substitutes:

one thing about velvet yarn is that this yarn comes in one or two weights. Most of the time even though the brands can vary the yarn balls have the same length and content. As we are from all around the world it can be hard to find the exact brand. But trust me they are all pretty same.

Take a piece of yellow yarn and your hook. Insert your hook in the last yellow stitch of the right side and Ch 20-25, and join with SS in the last yellow stitch on the left side.

You can also use a bead or button to make the strap adjustable. It is a bit hard to put the bag on. You need to do it from the bottom as the mane is bulky.

For a smaller child, it will be easier with a button.
